Digital Art: Other
With the continuous growth of internet and
technology users in the average household (audience), more artists are
experimenting and creating artworks using digital technologies. Digital art is the creative and artistic practice of creating art using digital technology. Components of digital art are used in many art genres; such as: installation art, video art, audio art, and performance art (J.G.).
InstallationInstallation art is a type of art that uses three-dimensional space as its "canvas". This type of art is usually site-specific and designed to alter the aura of a space. Installation art may include the use of video art and/or sound art. For example, the audience may be in an inside gallery that has been transformed using digital art to look as if it is outside. Trees could be projected onto white gallery walls using digital imaging, and the sounds of birds chirping and forest animals could be playing in the background. An entire atmosphere has been created through the use of technology and the installation of digital art (J.G.).

Video Video art is both a part of installation art, and a contemporary art genre in its own right. In the art world, video art differs from traditional film because of its inadvertence towards moving-making; the inclusion of a plot-line, narrative, setting and dialogue is typically completely ignored. The video art aims to express the qualities of video itself; to challenge how the audience sees time and space (J.G.).

Audio Audio art is a form of art-making that uses sound as a medium. Audio art can encompass anything from experimental music and noise, to sound sculpture, graphic and conceptual scores installation, and read aloud essays and books, to visual art and video art, and acousmatic music, to interactive instruments, soundscape composition, radiophonic art, sound performance and installation art (J.G.).

Performance Digital performance art consists of a performance exhibited "live," usually by the artist, to an audience within a fine art frame of reference, through the use of digital technology. Digital performance is used to confront the standards of the established forms of visual art: such as drawing and painting. There comes a time when these traditional mediums seem too conventional to artists. For this reason, many artists use digital performance art to attract a new audience base and work with new artistic ideas (J.G.).
